Hi, my name is Ben. I have been thinking about joining a pen-pal site for quite some time. I’m looking for someone to write with about anything and everything. I have always enjoyed writing, though I’m not even certain people use the medium of pen and paper anymore. From what I hear, tweeting, texting and an assortment of ridiculous smiley faces have practically made the written word obsolete. Hopefully I’m wrong, but if you wanted to teach me how to speak smiley face, I’d be okay with that too. If that’s one of the things I need to do to get with the times, then I’m on board. I can already see the strange looks I might get from people if I’m still making “calls” on my old flip phone when I get out. They might suspect me of being a time traveler.

I am really looking forward to finding someone to share thoughts, feelings, stories, ideas, dreams, emotions and of course laughter with. I will give everything of myself to be supportive, encouraging, open and honest with someone who shares their time with me.

I grew up in California and then moved to Nevada after high school. Some of the things I enjoyed doing and am anxious to get back to are hiking, camping, swimming, bike riding, playing with the dog, woodworking and building sandcastles. I’ve always wanted to take a road trip across the United States–see the Midwest, East Coast and then the South to really get a good feel for the people, land and cultures that make up this country. Hopefully someday I’ll be able to see other countries and parts of the world as well.

This place has taught me a great deal–determination, focus, discipline, courage and to celebrate any achievement no matter how small. If I can embrace these things in here, I can only imagine how far they can take someone outside these walls. Thanks for taking the time to read my post. I hope to hear from you.
