To my new friend,

Thank you for reading my profile. I hope you and your family are in the best of health. I’m Jermaine. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I caught a murder case when I was 18 and was given a life sentence. I’m 40 years old now. I tell you that up front because I want our friendship based on honesty and loyalty. Only way to bond is to have no secrets or lies between us. My intention is not to waste your time but to have our time together memorable and full of positive energy. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in life that I can’t take back or correct. I’ve lost family that raised me during my incarceration. That’s what makes our correspondence so important and special, because you’re all I have right now. So I want you happy and smiling in anticipation of my letters as I will of yours. I’m looking forward to you making these walls disappear as you tell me of your daily journey through life and of your latest accomplishments as I cheer you on and live through you. This isn’t about me or my ordeal, this is about knowing you and having somebody who cares write me faithfully, regardless of how the world turns. Life is full of firsts and surprises. If this is your first time seeking a pen pal, I want to make a lasting impression that it was a good decision. I want to also surprise you that I’m human and not a monster portrayed in movies. I like to read, play chess, basketball, work out and chill in my cell with my pet mouse Grumpy. As I watch him grow and live a simple life of grooming and peanut butter treats, he teaches me that life is really not that complicated. Just have trust and believe in your friend and happiness is guaranteed. I do not discriminate, this greeting is for all and I’ll gladly reply to all. If you use JPay, please include full address, apartment number, etc. as I can only respond through snail mail. I will write back immediately to all new friends who wish me well. I appreciate your time. Take care and God Bless You.
