Hello!

I am excited to update this profile for several reasons!

One reason is the wonderful amount of responses I received last year. I’ve met many fabulous people from all over the world and I hope to meet more.

Another reason is that my name has been formally changed to my spiritual name my sisters gave me years ago. I was sentenced to Natural Life under Angela Simpson for a 2008 Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer; the 2009 Murder of an ex-con turned informant; and the 2009 Robbery of a convicted pedophile. Some superficial say when I changed my name due to marriage, and again to my current name, I did so to avoid connection to my sentencing. I have no desire to escape my past or to do anything at all for such a silly or superficial purpose.

Another reason I’m excited is the support I’ve gotten for my writing. I appreciate so many people reading me knowing I don’t profit from my work. That’s very special, motivating, and rewarding.

Finally, I am excited because we Muslims are supposed to resist oppression and this gives me another avenue to do that.

Whether you write me or another convict, I thank you for supporting this site and for uplifting convicts!

In Solidarity,
Shajiyah

– People –

We are people in these cages. It is stunning that in 2025 I have to say that. We are people, human beings living in cages, cells, enclosures & razor wire fences. Removed from our families and caged for years, decades, lifetimes.

The world’s leaders are sex offenders, mass murderers, and genocidal maniacs gloating over hundreds of thousands of dead bodies and starving children. They and their supporters are the most heinous criminals imaginable. But we are people in these cages.

The ignorant spout things like, “My tax dollars support prisoners” and “Crime doesn’t pay.” Their stupidity is terrifying & dangerous. Their blindness is a threat to humanity. The prison industry is a multibillion dollar a year slavery enterprise. The orchestrators of this evil don’t need the dollars. They just don’t want those tax dollars improving education in the hood.

If I kidnap and torture one person, who I sincerely believe is a detriment to my community, I am deemed unfit for society. Unfit for a society that has kidnapped and tortured millions of people? Sometimes innocent people?

There is no excuse for supporting this systemic disease of caging human beings. However cruelty is dressed up and marketed to the gullible; however the people who facilitate this evil daily justify their crimes; whatever clichés are used to make people feel superior…

We are people in these cages.
