Hello,

Thank you for reading my profile. If you decide to write me, my gratitude will be expressed by never asking you for anything beyond friendship. I am not “that” guy.

I think my best quality is my honesty. It took several years of maturing to come to this point. Prison has been a place of life lessons I wish would have come sooner. If you are curious about the past, I will share. Just know that who I was is not who I am.

Just so you know, I am a little nerdy 😉 Where I almost got expelled from high school due to an “I don’t care” attitude, I have excelled in prison by earning 2 associate degrees and a bachelor’s degree. Psychology, drama, and literature were some of my favorite topics. With restricted options, I have devoted a considerable amount of time to education.

Prison has also introduced me to the joys of drawing and writing poetry. I specialize in portraits and animal drawings. I am still finding my voice as a poet. While beginning in free verse, I am exploring more structured forms like the English sonnet. Dostoyevsky is my favorite novelist, and Frost is one of my favorite poets.

As part of my personal repentance from my past life of drugs, alcohol, and destructive behavior, I dedicate most of my time to helping those about to return to society. An “I’m sorry” falls short of any real meaning. My hope is that by helping others change, the need for “I’m sorry” will be prevented. It is what I can do where I am at.

I would love to share more with you, but that will have to wait for another letter. I look forward to hearing from you.

A Human Pulse

A beating heart pulsing blood
through genuine human veins.
Is it ironic for one
to feel genuine human things?

Miles apart our hearts beat – beat –
separate – beat – beating –
Against the odds – beats – meeting –
As friends mingle – beats – beating.

Pulses pushing compassion
between friends – pleading – pleading –
to be loved – pleading – pleading –
to love another – pleading.

A human heart beat – needing –
souls humming in joint – needing –
A sated – need – need – needing –
A human – need – need – needing.

Pulses pulsing with passion –
pulsing with passion – pleading –
a pulsing passion – pleading –
a passion – pleading – pleading.

Vulnerable blood – beating –
honest, open blood – beating –
a humanness – beat – beating –
together – beat – beat – beating.

A beating heart pulsing blood
through genuine human veins.
Is it ironic for one
to feel genuine human things?
