Todd is 55 and incarcerated in the US (TX).
Hello,
Life is so strange, with all its twists and turns!? But here’s my truth… I have to face it, own it daily… I’m a shy, kind, outgoing, introvert, 10-year Air Force – Desert Storm Veteran. Got out of military, became an I.C.U. nurse then a cancer floor nurse- all in an effort to help people. But nurses 99% of the time help people, nurses don’t hurt people. So how does a remorseful person through bad decisions and improper responses to life’s lessons recover?
In my 20 years in prison, I find “positive” things to do: cognitive rehab thinking classes, self-improvement books, pray (A LOT!), write- if a pen pal is available? Writing is so CATHARTIC! I also remember the positive times in my life, spending time with family and friends, remembering my awesome trips to Honolulu, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Cancún, Mexico, Jamaica, and finally looking at future possibilities of new friends, new travels, learning new life lessons. I tutored over the last 15 years at least 100+ inmates in algebra, science and reading, helping them to get their GEDs, and then go onto getting their Associate’s Degrees, thus fulfilling my favorite saying, “I can either be a part of the problem or a part of the solution.” I choose the latter.
