Chester is 39 and incarcerated in the US (OR).
Setting healthy boundaries and making the right decisions in stressful situations in everyday life is very important when communicating with people about your feelings and/or intentions. I practice a healthy expression of feelings and emotions every day to make sure I’m accountable for my actions.
This is my first time in prison, and I’m determined to make this my last and return to being a productive member of society. While in prison, everything and everyone outside grows without you.
I’m interested in making positive connections with new friends. Growing in the right direction is important to me for my future.
I love my kids and miss them very much, and at times it’s very hard to be an active parent from inside prison. I’ve lost a lot of life coming to prison- from family members’ deaths to relationships with loved ones, the firsts of cheerleading, baseball, and multiple growth and birth experiences.
Words like dependable, polite, kind, caring, insightful, hardworking, honest, and approachable are used to describe me in a survey from different corrections officers, including my employment supervisor. These are all people who watch me in action every day as I become a better person.
This person I’ve become is not the person who came to prison over six years ago. When I had an argument with my roommate over a bicycle, his friends got upset. They tried to confront me with a knife in the parking lot of the apartment. When I tried to get away from them, one of them tried to run me over with his car. I then fired shots into the engine and windshield. We all knew each other, and I’m so grateful that nobody was seriously injured.
I spent my late teens and all of my twenties starting a family, working, getting married, then divorced, and experiencing a lot of life lessons. Nothing would have prepared me for this time in prison. I’m a better person today than ever and would love to know what else I don’t know.
I’ve worked in all types of construction starting at a young age and have built years of experience specializing in electrical and low-voltage communication installation. I love working on and operating anything with an engine, two wheels or four, manual or automatic. Riding, driving, working, hauling, it doesn’t matter. I love hands-on work or play, whether on water or land. 🙂

Music is a healthy expression of emotion for me as I spend time thinking about lessons in life and how to better my future by feeling everything that might hurt to learn from the pain and better understand a healthy expression of that pain into joy.
Here are some songs I listen to and enjoy: Max Schneider – EDIE CELINE, Ed Sheeran – Photograph, Camila Cabello – Consequences, Nate Smith – Better Boy, Scotty McCreery – Five More Minutes, Mitchell Tenpenny – Truth About You, Post Malone – I Had Some Help, Gabby Barrett – Growin’ Up Raising You, Niall Horan – Slow Hands, Jordan Davis – Part of It, Brett Young – Catch, Cody Johnson – Human.
