Discover What’s Possible
You can email me at: www.corrlinks.com if you are looking for a BEST friend who is real, loving, funny, smart, caring, a little crazy and a lot of fun. I am on this site trying to meet that special someone that I can share some laughs with, have a lot of fun with, and who’s ready to turn each other’s lives around.
I do know that if you’re lucky, once in a lifetime you’ll find someone who will completely turn your life around. You’ll tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul. They absorb everything you say, and desire to hear more. You talk of hopes for the future, dreams that will never be realized, goals you feel you’ll never achieve, the many disappointments this life has thrown at you.
When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell that person about it. You know they’ll be just as excited as you. Never will this person hurt your feelings or make you feel like you’re not special, like you’re not good enough. Rather, they build you up and help you realize what it is about yourself that makes you so special, beautiful and lovable.
With this person, you can be yourself and not have to worry about what others negatively think of you because they like you for who you are. The things that seem insignificant, such as a letter, a phone call or email or just a few minutes of being in one another’s company become those tiny tidbits of treasure kept as keepsakes and cherished.
Sometimes memories of your childhood can come flooding back and are so vividly recalled, you almost feel young again. Colors seem brighter and life becomes more brilliant. Laughter becomes a daily routine, whereas before it was an infrequent visitor.
I know from experience that a pleasant phone call or two during the day, if shared with that special someone, helps spread happiness throughout your life. Things that didn’t interest you before, what is worthwhile in these, become noticeable, perhaps fascinating. You part ways with frustration, and the people close to you become all the more special. This particular person who brings out the joyful side of you — you uncover their value and through this discovery, your connection deepens.
A person has to open their heart even though there’s a chance it may be broken, making yourself vulnerable is the only way you’re ever going to have a deep, meaningful, emotional connection with another human being. You have to put aside all your fears, because only true happiness is found in that scary kind of love. This is where your strength lies. This is the only place you’ll ever find your soulmate, the one who will remain loyal till the end. If one shows you love and care for you at your lowest, and be there for you at your lowest, just imagine what that person would mean to you when you are at your highest in life. I know one of the greatest things about a person like that is that they know all of your flaws, mistakes, and weaknesses, and you likewise know these things about them, but you all still find each other absolutely amazing.
I am somebody that would want to find love and grow old with someone that wants the same, but I know that kind of love starts by being friends first. I believe that if two can get along as friends and maybe become best friends, then anything is possible from there, becoming more if both want more. In the process, we can bring the best out of each other by helping each other find a side to ourselves that we never knew we had. That’s the true measure of friendship. It isn’t how you feel about yourself.
Making new friends keeps life interesting, exciting and keeps you feeling young. By adding more social capital, you’ll have more opportunities, create new memories and try new things. These things are possible with someone in prison, because physical things in life aren’t as important as the emotional connections we will make.
When it comes to change, since being locked up at 23, I worked on becoming a better person, learned how to listen to my friends and not make the same mistakes in here that I once have. Now that I am older, I became a mentor to a lot of men in here as well as some staff. I became a really good chef, even cooked for wardens, staff, and men in here. I now have a passion for cooking, which I see now that I am really good at it. I also have a passion for music, which is the best medicine for anyone feeling down or depressed. I listen to all types of music from country to 90’s R&B to rock. I just have a good ear for music, so if you want to see what good music is, I’m your boy to teach you. I also try my best to be there for my beautiful kids behind these dark lonely walls. I now have two grandbabies — that makes me feel old, but I do know y’alls are the new 30’s. I am working hard on my cases so I can get out of here and be the father that my kids never had while I was free and to be the best grandfather there is. I spend most of my time working on my case, trying to restore my freedom and get the justice that I was unfortunately denied. We have a legal system, not a justice system here in Illinois, and once you read up on why I am in here, you will see that I was found guilty off of my co-defendants’ lies and police cover-ups. I am still thoroughly convinced that I will be exonerated from the charges that I have been wrongfully convicted of.
I can’t predict the future, but I do know that God has a plan for you, for me, and every person we meet. God is the one that knew man couldn’t be alone on this planet, so He gave Adam Eve, and the rest is history. Most days in here I feel that void missing in my heart that only a woman can fill. I am around men 24/7 and this can harden a man’s heart. Will you be that special woman to soften my heart again, to fill that void in my heart? I know that if you read this far then it is possible. Prison is a very dark and lonely place, and I learn that it is not hard to find someone to tell you that they love you; it’s hard to find someone who actually means it! But I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and that one day someone will walk into your life and make you realize why it never worked out with anyone else. I hope to hear from you. It’s now in your hands to email me, write me, and (scratched out text). You can now leave me a voice message by calling (217) 217-6125. Can’t wait to hear from you and see where our new friendship takes us. You’ll be glad you contacted me.
Waiting in here is so different than the things we wait for in the free world. After going through everything before, waiting on everything in here makes me appreciate my freedom when I get it back and helps me realize that the things I waited for out there were not that bad when you are on a schedule. In here, it’s not your own time.
For most people, waiting takes place in a doctor’s office, a teller’s line at the bank, or in a drive-thru anticipating food. For others, maybe it’s waiting for your boyfriend to pick you up or for your child to come running out of school and greet you with a smile and a hug as the last bell rings.
Whether it’s a few minutes or a few hours, waiting is normally over quickly and painlessly, and life goes on.
Unfortunately for me, waiting is my life. I wait every day, locked in an eight-by-twelve cell 22 hours a day, for any sign of life from the outside world. I wake up and wait for breakfast to be shoved through my dirty door where guards could care less if clean or if my food lands on the floor like an animal. Some wouldn’t even treat their pets or animals this way or with the food we are fed here.
I then wait to be handcuffed and taken out for an hour of recreation. I wait for lunch. I wait to be handcuffed again and taken to a shower that is always cold. I then wait for mail and hope for a message from the outside that I am not forgotten, and as the guard passes me by and leaves me empty-handed, I wait for the feelings of hopelessness and despair to pass so I can go to sleep and wake up to wait again.
So my message to you is to never take life or your freedom for granted before you start waiting like I do every day.
