Hola! I’m Carlos. Here are some fun facts about me:

1. I’m originally from EI Salvador, but much to my chagrin, my Spanish has become rusty.

2. I love trash reality shows like 90 Day Fiancée and Black Ink Crew, but I like to balance out the smut with Bill Mahar and John Oliver – gotta keep it classy, too.

3. I’m currently enrolled in college and working towards my degree.

4. Kuchi zamishi is a Japanese phrase meaning the act of eating when you’re not hungry because your mouth is lonely. I admire Japanese culture, but I admire eating even more. In fact, I’ve experienced kuchi zamishi so hard I woke up to a chocolate-smeared face after sleep-eating a bag of snack size Snickers.

5. The name Carlos means “free man”…ironic…

6. Immigrating to a new country can be intimidating. Straddling the divide between two cultures is often daunting and overwhelming – everything and everyone is different, and often you just want things to be how you’re used to. As a kid who used to scale palm trees
barefoot in El Salvador, moving to the suburban US and navigating a new culture was a challenge. However, now I find exploring new places exciting. Traveling is a way for me to experience new people and new cultures and to appreciate the variety the world has to offer. There’s always something new to learn!

7. I’m passionate about helping people. Whether it’s offering translation services, helping with studies, or making someone laugh, I enjoy making someone’s day as much as I can.
