Gustavo Sanchez

First and foremost, my name is Gustavo. I am currently serving a 15-to-life sentence for 2nd degree murder. I’m a youth offender, meaning I came in young, and thanks to laws changing and attending programs to work on myself, I go before the board of parole in 2025 for possible release.

Since my incarceration in 2014, I’ve had to take deep, painful looks into myself and my past to answer why I decided to change and make the decisions I’ve made throughout my life that ultimately led to my conviction. From present day and beyond, I continue as a work in progress, cleaning out the skeletons in my closet and facing the demons that have haunted me for years as a means to heal my inner self, correct my behavior, and make living amends to everyone I’ve harmed and impacted by my choices, from my victim, his family, and loved ones, to my kids, loved ones, and the community.

Today, I actively participate in my environment, attending college, vocational training, and both going to groups to learn and facilitating groups as a teacher in hopes of helping others grow and heal as well. Also, as a member of our youth intervention program for at-risk youth, I share my experiences so they don’t have to walk the same path and hopefully plant the seed of change.

I’m investing in these pen pal services now out of both curiosity and opportunity because I closed out the world in the past with my ex. But years separated now, I see that I, too, deserve to be happy. So, for anyone interested in writing, I’m not going to hassle you like many do for packages or money. I’m just looking for people to talk to and get to know, whatever comes of it is up to you.
