Although I have a life sentence, I will not be discouraged. My purpose is to serve those who are in their struggle, shame, and addictions. Nobody has it all together, especially me. But I know that we were built to lift one another up, to love one another. That is how I do my time. It would be an honor to help people on the outside who want a sympathetic ear or a friend to talk to. And if it doesn’t work out, that’s okay, because I know how fast and busy it is out there. Time goes by pretty quickly in here too.

I’ve noticed that people aren’t connecting like they used to. It’s a “what have you done for me” society, and the world has more distractions than ever. Personal connections are almost a thing of the past. I’ve been gone a while, but do people even date anymore? With the ubiquity of technology and other readily available stimulants, we lose sight of what’s beautiful and meaningful in life.

My purpose is to be a light to people, not only in here but beyond this concrete jungle. I’ve been through and survived my addictions, abuse, and suicide. I want to encourage my friends and prevent people from making life-derailing mistakes.

Are we just a product of society? Or were some of us just dealt an unlucky hand? I don’t know. But a lot of us in here have changed for good, grown up in here, and learned many things. There are some who’ve evolved and some who haven’t. But really, who is the same person they were after ten years?

It’s sad how many people out there are feeling worse than some of us in here. So, if you are an open-minded individual who does not judge and needs a real friend who is honest, loyal, and compassionate, feel free to write.
