Toby Gregory

I am Toby Gregory. I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and raised in the small town of Belle, Missouri. I was raised by my mother and the best stepfather in the whole world. I have a long list of hobbies, including hunting, fishing, swimming, hiking, boating, martial arts, and working out.

I graduated high school in 1992, and had several jobs before joining the United States Marines in 1998-2006. I then came back to Missouri and joined the Missouri national guard from 2006-2007. I then joined the regular army from 2007-2012 when I retired. I did multiple combat tours, earned many awards and medals, to include a Purple Heart.

I did the the Netflix documentary called “I am a Killer.” I did this because the prosecution in my case labeled this all wrong and it was my chance to possibly get my story out there. My wife and I are veterans; both did combat tours and both had PTSD. I wanted to get my story out there as PTSD is downplayed by so many, and many self-medicate as I did. I wanted to help others and stop what happened to me to happen to them too, and let them know it’s OK to talk to someone and get help.

The second way is to set up a Securus account for direct e-messaging with me, as we have tablets here at the institution. My understanding is that it is not user-friendly or easy but with a little patience can be done.
