Hello to all. First and foremost, I’d like to start off by saying that I am a firm believer in Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. Some of my interests include playing guitar, drawing, painting, weightlifting/exercising, reading, and learning new things. Having good conversations with people, and helping others.
I am looking to form new bonds with prayer partners, friends, and like-minded individuals.
I was raised Catholic as a child, but converted to non-denominational Christianity when my parents got divorced in my early teenage years. I got saved at a church camp my friend invited me to around age 14. I played drums for the youth group’s worship team, went on a mission trip to Jamaica at age 16 with First Church of the Open Bible.
I played traditional sports growing up (basketball, football, & baseball). I excelled at baseball, playing in the All-Stars and AAU leagues. When my parents divorced, I turned to skateboarding, which I also excelled at. I quit organized sports and focused strictly on skateboarding. It was my outlet and way of escaping the hurt of my parents’ separation. Although I stayed participating in youth group & Bible studies, I started to stray a little with girlfriends and partying.
Although I was born and raised in Des Moines, IA, I graduated from Valley High school, I moved to southern California by myself the summer after i graduated to pursue the dream of professional skateboarding. I lived in Huntington beach and attended calvary chapel in costa mesa. I joined for a Christian hip-hop group out of calvary chapel and we toured Germany and all over southern California. I lived in orange county c.d. for 3 years, and when things didn’t work out with the hip-hop group, I became bitter, started to backslide and ended up moving back to Iowa.
I opened an indoor skatepark in Iowa city, started drinking, partying more, and fell away from the lord. I became an alcoholic, started experimenting with drugs, the skatepark failed. I started a home-improvement business that I ran for 15 years doing carpentry + paint (interior + exterior). Eventually, the alcoholism + drugs got the best of me, I made some bad decisions which ultimately ended me up here. Since being incarcerated I gave my life back to the lord, and believe I was given a second chance at life by the grace of God. I haven’t drunk or smoked in 3 ½ years now, and I’m getting in the best shape of my life, both physically and spiritually. Even though this is a terrible place to be, I believe the lord has a great plan for my life, and I’m grateful for being spared and for the mercy and grace I’ve been given.
