Ali is 49 and incarcerated in the US (OR).
Why hello there!
Thank you for visiting my profile here at Wire of Hope.
I am looking for a penpal friend (male or female), either locally or internationally. I have been incarcerated for 22 years and would like to hear from someone who loves to engage in intelligent, meaningful conversation that stimulates the grey matter and creates an aura of mutual conversational positivity. So, wherever you are out there, feel free to write me and discuss anything that tickles your fancy, as I do have a lot to offer in any intelligent conversation.
I was born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon. This took me all over Africa and the Middle East; yes, I am very fluent in Arabic and many of its sub-dialects. If you ever want me to just write your name in Arabic, then let me know, and I will gladly indulge you.
I enjoy current world events (state of the Middle East situation), I run a greenhouse and love horticulture (check out the photo of my 218lbs Atlantic giant pumpkin), prison reform (human rights and what should change for reformed lifers), animal rights (check out the pic of me holding my buddy, Mr. Carlos). I do love music (dance, EDM, Arabic ‘pop’, heavy metal, hard rock). As of lately, I have been enjoying the music of “THE WARNING.”
I am an avid long-distance runner with 5 major marathons under my belt. Before prison, I ran the Hood-to-Coast three times for good charitable causes (cancer awareness, homelessness awareness, children of refugee awareness). CrossFit has recently caught my eye. I ran the “MURPH” challenge this past summer in an average time.
Reading is my favorite pastime. Self-help, old-school philosophy, and psychology intrigue me, as I love studying their theories to see how it applies to us. Viktor Frankl, Malcolm Gladwell, Neal Lemery, to name a few. I have utilized tools from these authors to help me assist other challenged individuals with their problems.
As a lifer, I feel the general purpose of our lives is to help others along the way. It is my sincere obligation to try and inspire all those around me to be the best version of themselves. The intention is to create a good environment of positivity. To be happy is to not be afraid of your feelings, but to be able to talk about the issue at hand.
As you can see, I take great pride in my writing. I would love to share my experiences with a friend or two. So, if you have questions and some time to spare, feel free to drop me a line.
Take care and be happy, as to do so is to let your inner self be free, joyful, and caring. In short, let’s just talk about it.
P.S. I am a newly arrived short-story writer. My specialty is non-fiction (humor/memoir). I observe and capture obscure subject matter from my current environment and give it a jocular twist. I also like to write on current prison issues.
I would like to correspond with other fellow writers who would have time to mentor me in the wonderful world of writing. I feel that I have the substance but lack the essential structure to be the perfect writer. Any professional advice or directional help will be greatly appreciated as I ultimately would like to have my work published anywhere that is useful. If someone out there can recommend a proper ‘creative writing’ correspondence course, then that would be greatly appreciated. FYI, I have submitted some of my work to some outlets with no response at all.
Any advice from anyone out there, locally or internationally, will be greatly appreciated and be put to good use; as I am an advocate of the truth.
Thank you & take care!
