Hi, my name is Markes. Rather than attempt to create a long and boring profile, I thought I’d just write about what’s on my mind these days.

Well, I have a sincere interest in establishing a long-term friendship with a person who is honest, kind-hearted, and enthusiastic about life. My time in prison is starting to wind down, and so I find myself becoming more reflective of years past.

Lately, I recall spending many evenings sitting on the cliffs of San Diego under a Torrey Pine, watching waves crash upon the rocks as an orange sun gently fades below the Pacific.
I can still smell the salty breeze as it passes me by. I also think of the pitter-patter sounds that raindrops make when they hit the branches of redwood trees in the Mendocino Forest, and the cool, cold feeling of the water when it splashes upon my face. I don’t particularly know why I think of these events. Perhaps it’s because of the solitude and inner peace that they give me, which helps keep me balanced and focused in the chaotic environment of prison life.

I am an assertive, honest, and loyal man who believes life’s glass is half-full, not empty. I know that I am lucky and fortunate to have a small tight group of family and friends who have stood next to me through the trials and tribulations of this journey.

I study Business Administration with an emphasis in law through Adamas State University, and recently obtained my paralegal certificate.
It’s for my long-term plans and goals that I have when I leave this dump of place. I refuse to be a statistic.
