Growing up in the streets was tough as a kid, but I realized that I have a gift. My gift is simply to make people laugh through tough times. Since being incarcerated, I have used my abilities in a positive way to build everlasting friendships, not only with people struggling inside the prison system, but outside, people living day to day life. Although I was wrongly incarcerated at the young age of 25, I realized that instead of complaining about my unfortunate situation, I could use this time to not only better my life, but the people around me. I’ve prayed that my innocence will be proven in court soon and it seems to be being answered, as my co-defendant was released on appeal and his case was dropped. I know my time is next and I promise to use my situation to be a voice for change, not only for young kids, but also silenced voices trapped in this unjust legal system.
